BANKSIDE ACCESS
We have to be honest in saying that, if you have difficulty with stairs and steps then, sadly, Bankside is not for you.

If you arrive on foot, you will approach Bankside through our front gate from Bodmin Road, and then you will immediately be met with ten granite steps leading up from pavement level, with a hand rail of the left hand side. If it is dark, a light will automatically come on behind you to light your way, and you will find other lights as you make your way up through the front garden.
Once you are the top of the first steps, there is a short level section of brick paved path, from which you get your first view up the garden to the house, and then five more granite steps, a longer brick paved path, one step onto the paved terrace and two to the front door.

If you arrive by car you should drive up Coach House Lane and park outside our two garages – the ones with the upper storey: the other two belong to our neighbours. The brick paved parking area has room for four cars, and the parking area is lit by one fixed light and a halogen security light.
From here there are three steps down into our upper courtyard and there are then ten granite steps down to the lower courtyard, with a hand rail on the left hand side. Both courtyard areas are brick paved and there are strategically placed lights along the way. There is one step up to the back door, and there two steps down from it into our kitchen.

Once you are in the house, the dining room, where we serve breakfast, is on the ground floor. All three guest bedrooms are on the first floor, with access via a wide easy rising staircase which is arranged in sections of six steps, seven steps and six steps.
The entrance hall has a wood strip floor, mostly covered by a large rug. The kitchen has a quarry tiled floor and the shower room floors are tiled or vinyl covered. All other areas have short pile fitted carpeting.
If you want to walk out for a meal in the evening you would probably want to walk out through the front garden – but then it’s a five minute level walk to a variety of places to eat. But as you go further afield you will find that all of Cornwall is hilly, so wherever you go, you will have to walk up a hill at some time.
