Welcome to Bankside B&B
You will not find a board with "B & B" hanging at our gate but when you arrive you will find a luxurious home and a very warm welcome. At Bankside, Heather and Rob Batho have created an exclusive and supremely comfortable B & B. Bankside is a spacious house with lovely period features and high ceilings which was built in about 1820. It has been sympathetically renovated and now offers three stylish guest bedrooms, each with its own thoroughly up to date shower / WC. It is furnished in mainly contemporary style but with some antiques here and there.
We are quietly situated about five minutes walk from the town centre, and ten minutes from the railway / bus station. The beautiful front garden features a very sunny and sheltered terrace, and it is planted with a variety of hardy exotics. Our parking area is at the back, via Coach House Lane, and the approch is then through our Mediterranean courtyard.
On arrival you will be greeted with complimentary refreshments, which will be served either in the lounge, or on the terrace overlooking the garden. Home made Cornish Cream Teas are always available by arrangement.
Bedrooms
The bedrooms are individually decorated but all the beds are really comfortable, with crisp white Egyptian cotton bed linen, and there are chairs to relax in. A colour TV, hair dryer, clock / radio are also provided, together with a hospitality tray (variety of teas, coffee, sugar and fresh milk daily), plus wine glasses and a bottle opener. Bathrobes and fresh flowers add that extra special touch.
Breakfast
Our breakfasts are served around our large antique table in the dining room, and are a great opportunity to get to know the other guests.
Starters are buffet style, with fruit juice, a large choice of cereals, nuts, seeds and dried fruit, plus home made yoghurt. Porridge is also available.
To follow, the choice includes traditional "Full English", scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, or home made pancakes served with either bacon and maple syrup or with banana, honey, nuts and yoghurt.
Our bacon, sausages and free range eggs all come from a local farm shop. Heather makes all the bread, yoghurt and pancakes and some of the jam - the rest is locally sourced.
Gluten free, vegetarian and other diets can all be accommodated with advance notice.
