Welcome to Bankside B&B
Heather and Rob Batho look forward to welcoming you to Bankside. Here you will find a luxurious home and a very warm welcome. Bankside was built in about 1820 and is a spacious house with lovely period features and high ceilings. It has been sympathetically renovated and now offers three stylish and comfortable guest bedrooms, each with its own thoroughly up to date shower / WC. It is furnished in mainly contemporary style but with some antiques here and there.
We are quietly situated about five minutes walk from St Austell town centre, and ten minutes from the bus and train station, and are ideally placed for visiting the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The stunning coastline of St Austell Bay with Charlestown, Mevagissey, and Fowey are all very easily accessible.
Bankside itself is has a beautiful front garden which has a sunny, sheltered terrace - the perfect place to enjoy a delicious homemade Cornish Cream Tea. The garden is planted with a variety of hardy exotics as well as rhododendrons, camelias and azaleas. Our private parking area is at the rear of the house which is approached via Coach House Lane. From there the entrance to the house is via our Mediterranean style courtyard. Bankside is situated on a slight hill, and there are many steps for access at both the front and rear: please read our Access Statement to check that the location will be suitable for you.
On arrival you will be greeted with complimentary refreshments which will be served in the sitting room or on the terrace overlooking the front garden.
Bedrooms
Our bedrooms are individually decorated but all have extremely comfortable modern beds with crisp white Egyptian cotton bed linen and hypoallergenic duvets and pillows. Each bedroom has chairs to relax in and individual hospitality trays. The full range of facilities offered is set out with the individual room descriptions. Free WiFi available in all rooms.
Breakfast
Our breakfasts are served around our large antique table in the dining room, and are a great opportunity to get to know the other guests and share your experiences of the area.
You can help yourself to starters - fruit juice, cereals, homemade yoghurt, a selction of dried fruits, nuts and seeds as well as fresh fruit. Whilst you are enjoying your starters Heather will cook you your choice from the extensive menu: no need to decide the night before what you might fancy the next morning! The choice includes a traditional "Full English", scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, or pancakes with a variety of toppings.
Our bacon, sausages and free range eggs all come from Trudgian Farm Shop in Probus. The bread, yoghurt, marmalade, jam lemon curd and pancakes are all homemade.
Gluten free, vegetarian and other diets can all be accommodated with advance notice.
